Together we can make a difference

Our neighborhoods can flourish and significantly improve when dedicated members of our community realize that no one else can do and will do anything for us unless we do it ourselves. As a result, our partnerships connect with those with a passion to learn, a heart to serve and the desire to promote mentorship through education, equal justice, and positive social change for our communities. We invite you to partner with us on this journey. Join our newsletter and volunteer to change one life at a time.

About Us

Community Alliances and Improvements, Inc. is a nonprofit organization founded by community organizers and advocates to provide transformational programs targeting areas of disparities in our community. Our projects focus on children throughout different stages of development. Our work focuses primarily on children entering pre-k and kindergarten, as well as providing mentorship/workshops for middle-school-age kids. We also support low-performing high schools to prepare young adults to face the challenges of adulthood and beyond with the proper life skills, leadership seminars and test prep assistance. We also provide other ad hoc services for other demographics on as needed basis. Our organization is dedicated to uplift, engage, educate and serve our community. We want to impact the community by actively working together with other community organizations to promote ongoing, measurable and sustainable improvements.

Our Mission

Our primary mission is to help every young individual in our community, regardless of their family structures and abilities by offering their young minds the opportunity to acquire early literacy skills. We also aid children by providing dependable mentorship with reliable and trusting adults who believe in their potential and help them become successful. Our efforts also extend to provide some ad-hoc supports to our Senior Citizens on an as needed basis. We educate students and foster avenues for more significant community improvements.

We want to see measurable and sustainable growth and enhancements, whether by providing additional resources to our head-start and elementary schools through our early literacy program; by matching mentors with middle scholars; by fostering continuous efforts to provide leadership training and testing supports to our high school seniors; by providing weekly food distribution to selected senior centers; by sharing in voter education through community engagements; or by engaging in entrepreneurship and personal finance coaching for those interested in launching their own businesses. We are dedicated to seeing our community thrive and advance. Our organization exists because of our steadfast desire to serve, engage, educate, and leverage our strength through interactions with other community partners whose goals are to build, improve, and elevate our community.

Our Vision

Our vision for the future is a community where every child can read and write fluently by first grade and have access to books and other resources necessary to thrive. We ensure that everything is freely available for children in neighboring schools. We build bridges connecting middle school pre-teens and teens with trusting adults, who serve as mentors to guide them as they start making decisions with lifelong consequences, conduits that engage high school youth in leadership training and equip them to become change agents to lead and motivate their communities, leading a community of people who are educated about their right to vote and beyond. Everyone, especially our senior citizens, will have access to food and other resources necessary to thrive. Our vision is to have a community where economic and development is operative—where everyone can fully participate in upward mobility and achieve success.

CAI is investing in some of the most effective ways to create a community shift at the grassroots level through:

  • Early education/literacy programs for 3-7 year olds and wraparound programs for families.
  • Life skills and mentoring training for adolescent girls/boys (age 12-15) so that they are well-equipped and prepared for high school.
  • Preparation programs for high school students to prepare them for college and their High School Test. We also provide activities to improve non-college bound skills that are useful in the job market.
  • Support for schools to ensure that every student has a tutor and every school has enough food and supplies.
  • We take care of our foster communities and support them with care packages for youth and matching families to young adults who would provide emotional supports as they enter college and provide housing for them while they are on breaks. Our support program also includes ad hoc supports for the Senior Citizens Community, who needs help with food delivery and other assistance through the benevolence of our partners.

Our Programs

Through our alliances with other community organizations, we want to impact the community by actively working together. By joining hands with local community leaders, social workers, teachers, lawyers, and health professionals, we help low-performing schools guide students to a brighter future. Our curriculum was created to be replicable and transportable, using simple, kid-friendly language, which makes it entertaining and educational for any organization anywhere in the world.

Consider investing in our community by donating to our causes

When you donate to this cause, your contribution goes into eradicating social ills resulting in an abundant life fill with hope. We can choose to assist our children in the front end or pay for it on the back end. It is said that it’s cheaper to educate a child than to rehabilitate a man.
